Men's Rings by Postgate https://postgatejewelers.com/

Men's Rings, ones that project something unique and noble about the man wearing them is a specialty of ours. The challenge of designing men's rings is one that I enjoy. We have had many interesting commissions for  men’s rings. Many have been from men who wanted something special to pass down through their family. This gives them a tangible way to share something special about themselves with future generations.

Men’s rings, My story:

Men’s Rings are a special challenge to design because many men only wear one or two rings in their lifetime. They want a ring that is a statement of self. This way of thinking about jewelry for a man is part of my personal story. When I was a young lad of 14, I tagged along with a friend to visit a local lapidary. My friend loved geodes crystals and desert roses. The stones that got my attention however, were the star rubies and really good opals. These were the first such stones I had seen and I was hooked! I wanted a nice ring, so I bought a small star ruby to set in a ring for myself. The ring had to be masculine and dynamic and really show the stone off. My ring needed to be something unique that I would be proud to wear.

Becoming a jeweler:

I visited several shops in town to see if I could find a setting that I liked and I couldn’t. The ring I ended up choosing was nice but it just didn’t match the designs floating in my imagination. I sensed an opening door, and decided to  learn how to make my own jewelry. Initially I learned how to construct jewelry from sheet and wire from the nice fellow who owned the lapidary. My first tools were a saw, a few files. a wire cutter, electric drill; and a butane torch. I wish that I had kept some of my early pieces. We don’t do many pieces that aren’t cast anymore. I learned to cast and work in wax when I was in college and loved the way that I could just carve or build up wax into almost any shape and then cast it.

Our Men’s Rings

Do you have a special ring in mind and you just haven’t been able to find it? Let us help you create something special. You can buy any of the men’s rings that we have in stock and we will send them out within about a week. If you want something that you just can’t find, we can make it special for you. Special orders of stock designs usually go out in less than six weeks. If you order a custom design it should be finished within 6 months depending on our schedule and the complexity of the design. We will let you know at the time you place your order, when you should receive your ring.

Orders

We usually sell our rings as custom orders, and will make them in almost any size. We work in 14K rose, white, or yellow gold, in 18K  yellow or white, 22K yellow gold. Your ring can be made in any of these, or in combinations of more than one.  Check out some of the Men’s rings and other pieces that we’ve made for people here: https://postgatejewelers.com/shop/ You can see more of our designs and learn more about us by visiting our Face Book Site. We often put up images of pieces that we are working on before we add them to our website here: https://www.facebook.com/Postgate-Fine-Jewelers-111540785537658/photos/?view_public_for=111540785537658&ref=page_internal. Instagram is also a good place to see new designs: https://www.instagram.com/georgepostgate/ The instagram page shows a custom order for a ring that I just finished for a customer.  He wanted a Scottish clan Graham dress ring made that will be passed down through his family. You can see the ring when it was first started in wax. I’ve shown it in various stages of completion as well as other things Suzan and I have been making there.

Waxes

When you place a custom order we will send you an image of your jewelry while it is in wax. All most all of our jewelry is made in wax and then cast in gold or silver. The basic form and design of a piece is first worked out in the wax. The wax’s image shows our customer how their man’s ring will look when it is finished. An advantage of doing this, is that it allows our customer to let us know if we have misunderstood anything. This is the stage where the design can be changed if needed. We can also use images of waxes to give a customer a choice between two or more ways of doing their piece. I once sent an image to a customer showing their ring as an Art Deco design or Celtic design. One half of the ring was Deco and the other Celtic. She liked both and I made it so. It looked great, although I don’t dare quote her best comment when she called me. Once the wax has been approved we can then go on to finish their jewelry. Our instagram page has images of a Clan Graham family crest ring in white and yellow gold that is a great example of how a ring goes from wax to the finished man’s ring. We have a page that shows several pieces of jewelry in wax and as the finished pieces.
