Irish Claddagh ring History;
Irish Claddagh rings have one of the most memorable stories in jewelry behind its creation. The ring was first made by an Irish prisoner of war. He had been captured by the Turks and apprenticed to a Turkish jeweler where he learned jewelry making as a way to pay for his imprisonment, and later to buy his freedom. Once free, he returned to his home in the the ancient fishing village on Galway Bay in the west of Ireland. When he arrived in his village, he presented his true love with the first Claddagh ring. He had made and designed the ring while still a captive in Turkey. The ring has since evolved into a universal symbol of love and friendship.

Waxes
When you place a custom order we often will send you an image of a wax of your jewelry while it is still in wax. All most all of our jewelry is made in wax and then cast in gold or silver. The basic form of a piece is worked out in the wax and the wax’s image shows our customer how their piece will look when it is finished. An advantage of doing this is that it allows our customer to let us know if we have misunderstood anything or if there is something else about their piece that they need to inform us about. We can also use images of waxes to give a customer a choice between two or more ways of doing their piece. Once the wax has been approved we can then go on to finish their jewelry. We have a page that shows several pieces of jewelry in wax and as the finished pieces.
