Tourmaline memento mori ring for a beloved kitty

The tourmaline memento mori ring was made to remember a beloved kitty. A very special customer wanted me to create this ring to commemorate her special, very loved, feline companion. Her kitty, a friend and constant companion for many years, was very sick when she commissioned the ring. Thankfully her kitty has recovered. I remember all too well the heartbreak we experienced with the passing of our last loving kitten and I infused her ring with love and care. I'm always saddened by such commissions and honored to be able to help the grieving. You can see more unusual design commissions here:https://postgatejewelers.com/postgate-jewelers-jewelry-designs/

Details:

The ring is made in 18K gold with several small diamonds in the flowers circling the stone. The stone, a beautiful large tourmaline is set at a slight angle to give it a feeling of movement which works well with the ring\'s theme of growth and renewal. I placed a small kitten in an opening in the side of the ring where it will face its owner as she wears her ring. The tourmaline weighs between 3.5 and 4cts. It is very clean with no easily noticeable flaws.

Memento mori:

The medieval Latin name for jewelry that was mostly made in the 16th and 17th centuries to commemorate the dead, and to remind the living of the temporary nature of life and to not waste it. I've made a few of these types of rings over the years for people morning loved ones. I always approach such commissions with great care and respect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memento_mori
