The Luckenbooth, a bit of history:

The Luckenbooth is a traditional Scottish good luck symbol. They are worn during wedding services to insure a loved one’s fidelity. Pinned to a baby’s shawl it is said that a luckenbooth brooch will also keep the fairies from taking your baby. There are many more stories and powers attributed to these brooches that have been handed down over the centuries. One of our favorites and one that is provable, is that some native Americans have luckenbooth brooches that have been handed down in their families for centuries. Scottish fur traders traded the silver brooches for furs long before the United States was formed as a country.
