Celtic garnet knot ring, one of my original Celtic knot ring designs. I have made several versions of this over the years and I really like this design because it is beautiful, smooth, and easy to wear. Celtic garnet knot ring details:

The ring was carved and built up in wax by hand. It was then cast in 18K gold. The stone is a fine quality natural oval faceted garnet that is 9 X 6 mm in size. The stone has a fine balance of red and dark orange colors that flash strongly from within the depths of the stone as the ring moves.

The garnet is set in a bezel setting. this is the most secure type of setting since the stone is set into a rim of gold that covers its entire girdle. The advantage of a bezel setting is that even if it does wear through after many years, the stone will not be lost. This is also a very smooth setting that will not catch on clothing. A bezel setting doesn’t cover more of a stone than a pronged setting, since prongs have to come farther onto the stone to do their job.
