I once had a Kashmir sapphire that might have been as fine in the 80’s, but I am pretty sure that this is the finest sapphire I’ve had the privilege of setting in over 50 years. The stone is very deep which allowed the gem cutter to place many more facets on its pavilion than is normal. This gives the stone a kaleidoscopic effect of flashing blue lights as it is worn. I’m pretty sure that this is the best sapphire that you will ever see in this price range. Ceylon Sapphire Celtic Ring Details:
The sapphire is 3.99 cts in weight. It comes from Ceylon, its is cut as a deep brilliant. Our gemologist loved the cut and said that it is possibly the best way that the stone could have been cut. Bright flashes of a brilliant blue shimmer through the stone and seem to dance upon its surface as the ring is moved. I had to make a special setting to properly display the stone so I created this open Celtic knot setting in 18K yellow gold. The setting’s openings allow the stone’s pavilion to be seen through it. The beauty of the stone can be enjoyed by looking at the openings in the Celtic design as well as from above. I considered placing diamonds around the sapphire but decided not to since this stone does not need them. This ring is probably a one of a kind because the cut of the stone is so unusual, but I can make the same setting for a stone of your choice as a custom order. I can re-size the ring within reason. Sizing is free.
