Scottish Rampant Lion ring, size 9 1/2 designed and made by George
The Scottish rampant lion ring is a classic mans ring that I've wanted to make for years. I was hindered by a bout of "approach avoidance" because I wanted mine to be the best! I'll leave that for you to decide. I actually became a jeweler at the ripe age of 14 because I couldn't find a ring that I liked for myself, so began a career that has lasted a lifetime and has brought me great joy and a way of expressing myself as an artist.
Scottish rampant lion ring, Details:
The ring is made of 14D white palladium gold. The lion and other yellow gold inset details are made of 18K. While the ring is large, it only rises 4mm above the finger which is less than 3/16." This makes the ring very wearable, It will fit most gloves and slide into and out of pockets with no problems. All of the detailing, as well as the ring its self, are hand carved. The sides of the ring are inset with panels that are carved in a Scottish thistle design. A thin panel on the back of the ring has letters that spell "Scotland" carved into it.
I’ve made versions of this ring with 22K inserts and once with rose gold inserts. The body of the ring could also be changed to yellow or rose gold. We can also make a personalized version from scratch for you. Take a look at the images of another mans Scottish clan ring that I just finished. The ring is a dress Graham family clan ring in white and yellow gold. The images show the ring at various stages of its development, from initial wax to finished piece. https://www.instagram.com/georgepostgate/ . When I work on a new design for a customer, I often send them images like these to help keep them up to date on the progress of their piece. It also gives them a chance to chime in with suggestions. A print out of these images and conversations make a special record to keep with their piece. We make a lot of Scottish jewelry as well as designing new pieces for our customers as custom orders.
