Spring maiden pendant amethysts and ruby in 14K an original design by Suzan Postgate. This pendant shows a tree in the forest changing into a maiden. The maiden is shown happily picking and admiring some newly opened spring flowers. The pendant hangs lavalier style, from a triangle of figaro links and three amethyst beads that connect it to a flower of gold with a ruby in its center. A Celtic knot bale at the top of the flower link connects the pendant to its chain. The Spring Maiden pendant was hand carved in wax and then cast and finished in 14K gold by Suzan. Its dimensions are 1 X 7/8″ The pendant comes with a fine quality 1.4mm 14K figaro link chain 16″ in length. The distance from the bale to the pendant is 2″ making the entire chain about 20″ in length.
This is a beautiful and unusual one of a kind piece, that will immediately attract attention and compliments. The pendant reminds me of a Rodin in the way the maiden seems to grow out of its background, which is a gnarly tree with flowers among its leaves and branches. We used to visit “The Legion of Honor” near Golden Gate Park and admire Rodin’s sculptures. I doubt that Suzan was consciously thinking of Rodin but many of her sculptures do have a kindred feeling with his.
