Alexandrite diamond leaf earrings in 18K gold by George Postgate
The Alexandrite diamond leaf earrings were designed and made by George. They were first carved in wax, cast and finished by hand. Alexandrites were stones that I could only dream about when I started to make jewelry. Hardly anyone I knew had ever seen a real one. I'm always looking for these special and rare stones, and I've been lucky enough to find them from time to time. It's magical the way alexandrites change from pirple to green. Sometimes they have both colors moving through them at once as the light changes. Synthetic alexandrites have been around since the 1800's. Spinals and corundum, were grown to "look" like, and sold as alexandrite. They look nothing like the real thing.

Alexandrite diamond leaf earrings details:
These earrings are made of 18K gold, they measure approximately 7/8" X 1/2" without earring backs or a pendant bale attached. I haven't put the earrings backs on yet, but they come with 18K lever backs. They can be and separately as two pendants, or as one pair of earrings. All of the stones in the earrings are natural. The small accent stones are diamonds and alexandrites, they range approximately from 1.5 mm to 1.7 mm in size. The center stones are approximately 0.24 cts each. All of the alexandrites show some color change, many of them show a very strong color change. The alexandrites are green in natural and LED lighting. They will turn purple in low wavelength light, like fire light or incandescent lighting.
