Golden Unicorn emerald pendant in 14K
The Golden Unicorn, was the name of our first shop in San Francisco. We opened it in 1974. I don't think about it very often, but I was pleasantly reminded this morning when I got an email from an old customer. She had purchased one of my first Unicorn pendants, perhaps my first in 1978. I recently made this one set with an emerald.
"Hello… I have a pendant from the late 70’s that I believe you made. The unicorn with the butterfly. It has been my favorite for always. Just wanted to say thank you for a life time of happy ….. Golden Unicorn Jewelry before you were at pier 39… love your new designs. Cherie"
The pendant Cherie has loved all of these years provided me with one of my favorite stories about one of my pieces. Another customer who had purchased a little Unicorn pendant was on an expedition in the Amazon. Her group had not seen any other humans for weeks when their path crossed the path of an expedition from Great Britain. As they exchanged greetings and stories, one of the women in the British group pointed to the pendant my customer was wearing. She had been in my shop and had also admired the little unicorn pendant. I’m working on a few other pieces now but I think that I need to consider making of the little Unicorn pendants for stock again. The original pendant that Cherie has had the unicorn facing a butterfly. I also made the pendant with a small stone replacing the butterfly. The image of the pendant shown here is one of the ones with a stone. Many of the Unicorn pendants and rings that I’ve made over the years were not photographed. Taking pictures of our work was a lot harder back then. Film was expensive and you never knew how the images would turn out until you got them back from the developer. Many of our Unicorn pieces, even some from our Golden Unicorn days, can be seen on our website here:https://postgatejewelers.com/product-category/flowers-vines-and-animal-jewelry/ We have a wide selection of our work on FaceBook. Some pieces are shown in various stages of completion. When we do a special piece for a customer we often send them image of waxes. This makes it easier for them to understand what we are doing. It also allows us to work together and insure the creation of something special: Golden Unicorn emerald pendant in 14K
