Shooter's Sunstone Pendant was commissioned by Vince Obarski in February 2020 for his wife Robin as a memento of their beloved dog Shooter. Vincent asked that the pendant be derived from the Celtic drawing of Shooter that he had made for one of his bottle labels “ Shooter’s Mark.” Vince had an idea for something with a Yin Yang appearance. This kind of jewelry is called Memento mori:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memento_mori  jewelry made to remember loved ones who are no longer with us. This type of remembrance has always been with us but it was most popular during the times of the black death in Europe. I've made several Memento mori pieces for my customers over the years.

Details:

Shooter's sunstone pendant has two Celtic Shooter dogs circling a round brilliant cut sunstone in a yin yang style. One of the dogs is made in 18K yellow gold, the other is made of 14K rose gold. each dog has a honey bee of the other’s color attached to it. The dogs are romping through a field of hops that form the pendant’s border. Honey and hops represent the main ingredients used in their company’s beverages. The pendant is 26mm in diameter. The sunstone is a 3.16 ct Emerald Green- Teal Dichroic Schiller Gem

Sunstone:

Sunstone is a plagioclase feldspar. Feldspar is the stone that the Vikings used to help them navigate and explore the world. It exhibits a spangled appearance when viewed from different angles. The stone is found in Southern Norway, Sweden, and parts of the United States. Vince loves Viking everything and owns the Twisted Horn Mead & Cider Brewery,1042 La Mirada Ct Vista, CA 92081.
