Celtic andalusite knot ring in 14K designed and made by George Postgate size 6 1/2
Celtic andalusite knot ring: This ring is one of my favorite settings for a fairly large faceted stone. The openings in its knotwork allow light to find the stone through its sides as well as its top. I’ve set a fascinating andalusite in this piece. Andalusite is one of the rare and mysterious gemstones that play with light by breaking it into different colors. Greens, yellows and oranges are the dominant colors in this stone as you turn it in your hand. Celtic andalusite knot ring, Details:
The ring is a Celtic ring of open knots that cradle an approximately 11 X 18.4 X 5.8mm deep cushion shaped andalusite. The stone is naturally iridescent with a medium dark green or amber colored stone. It nicely displays different colors as it is moved. A pear shaped 3.5 X 3.5mm, green tourmaline is set on either side of the andalusite. Like many gemstones the andalusite is included. Inclusions account for some of my favorite gems. There would be no rutilated quartz or star sapphires without them. Then there are stones that are so rare and valuable that we don’t mind a few flaws. Emeralds are so rarely without flaws that the flaws sometimes help sell a stone. Flaws in emeralds are sometimes referred to as veils and gardens. This stone falls into that category. A stone lover will have no problem loving this one, A person who wants a perfect gem won’t like it.
