This dramatic design transitions from a knot-work band into a pattern of golden flairs that frame the beautiful Australian black opal. The opal is a solid black opal from the New South Wales region of Australia which is one of two regions where fine black opals are found. This is a Lightning Ridge stone. The opal is an exceptional stone displaying a patchwork of colors primarily made up of reds, blues, oranges, and greens. Colorful and constantly changing, the stone makes me think of viewing an exotic forest from a window. The colors of a black opal are stronger than other types. One of the things I love most about these stones is that they show their colors very strongly in diminished light, when other stones just fade.
