Emerald Celtic Knot Ring In 18k Yellow Gold size 8 1/2
The Emerald Celtic knot ring is an original design by George Postgate who also made it. This ring was first carved by hand in wax, cast, and then re- carved and finished in gold. The basic design is one of my oldest Celtic designs. It is is beautiful and easy for an active person to wear. I've shaped the ring so that it will slide in and out of pockets and gloves without catching. This makes it very protective of less durable stones like emeralds and opals. The gold-work of the ring frames the stone and gives it the appearance of floating. It comes high enough around the stone to protect it as well as the prongs holding it. The ring is set with a 0.47ct emerald cut emerald as its center stone. The stone is well cut and its flaws are typical of natural emeralds. This Emerald is a very beautiful natural stone from the Muzo mines of Columbia. These mines have produced the finest emeralds in the world for hundreds of years. The ring is an original Celtic design of George's. He has made many variations of to fit many different sizes and types of gemstones.
