Irish Claddagh knot band, Variations
This ring has a 14K yellow Claddagh design and open knot-work center for it’s band. Borders of white 14D ( White 14K palladium gold ) surround the yellow gold center detail. A stone can be set into the heart or a stone that is heart shaped can even replace it. This ring is available in your choice of 14K to 22K gold in one, two, or three colors. History:
The Irish Claddagh ring has one of the most memorable stories in jewelry behind its creation. The Claddagh ring was first made by an Irish prisoner of war. He had been captured by the Turks and apprenticed to a Turkish jeweler where he learned jewelry making as a way to pay for his imprisonment, and later to buy his freedom. Once free, he returned to his home in the the ancient fishing village on Galway Bay in the west of Ireland. Once home, he presented his true love with the first Claddagh ring. He had made and designed the ring while still a captive in Turkey. The Claddagh ring has since evolved into a universal symbol of love and friendship.
