Mists of Avalon band, I studied calligraphy many years ago and have used similar designs as inspiration for my jewelry creations. Curling swirls of gold form the center gold-work of the bands. White gold borders rise high enough to protect the details of the band's centers. The origin of this style is taken from the border decorations created by limners. Those were the monks who created illuminated manuscripts in scriptoriums during the middle ages. I imagined the swirling magical mists that must have surrounded the mystical isle of Avalon as I designed this band.
These bands are carved in wax by hand and then re-carved in the metal after being cast. The bands shown have different colored gold centers, one with an 18K yellow center, and one with a rose 14K center. The bands’ insides and borders are made of white palladium 14K gold. This design is also a good choice if you prefer 22K gold, it looks great in this sort of pattern. The surfaces of the rings are nicely rounded and polished for comfort. The sides of the ring are tall enough to give good protection to the details inside. With reasonable care they will last for generations. You may order the mists of Avalon band in almost any size.
