Welsh emerald spoon cross: My love spoon cross is hand carved in 14K gold with an emerald in its center. This unique Welsh tradition of carving wooden spoons is to prove the worthiness of a woman's suitor. If the spoon carved by a young woman's prospective husband impresses her family, he then has a chance to marry her. The tradition is intended to make sure that he will be talented enough to be a good provider. This tradition originated in the 17th century. The tradition has evolved, and some of the spoons are truly wonderful works of art.

Welsh emerald spoon cross, Details:

This cross is the smallest that we make. It measures 19 X 15 mm. The emerald is a fine natural brilliant cut stone 3mm in diameter. The cross is hand made. It was first carved in wax and then in the metal. It is also hand finished. A chain is not included but we can add one if you would like. You can choose from many link styles and lengths. Just let us know and we will add it to your order.
